Return Policy

HOLIDAY RETURN POLICY

Purchases made 12/2/24-12/24/24 are eligible for return until 1/16/24. Items must meet all standard return policy guidelines.


  • Unopened product may be returned within two weeks if packaging is intact and undamaged.
  • Opened product may be returned within two weeks if return includes complete product in like-new condition — in the original carton with all equipment, packaging, warranties, manuals, and accessories. A 10% restocking fee will be deducted from your refund. Please note that most computers cost a minimum of $100 to return.
  • Please save all packaging until you determine that your product is working correctly.
  • Defective products should be returned as quickly as possible (preferably within one week) for a full refund. Please inspect your product(s) upon receipt and report defects to Tech Shop immediately.
  • Some products are not eligible for return, including custom-configured or Special Order items. Please discuss with our sales staff prior to your purchase if you have any questions.

Guidelines for Specific Items

Dell Laptops

Dell laptops must meet Dell's criteria of "inoperable upon first use" to be considered defective:

  • not powering up AND/OR
  • damaged screen or chassis right out of the box.

We can only replace products that meet this criteria; any other complaint prompting return will be handled as a Dell warranty issue.

Software

  • Licensed software (SAS, SPSS, Mathematica, and JMP) is not returnable unless defective. Defective software can be exchanged but not refunded.
  • Unopened unlicensed software may be returned within two weeks without penalty if shrink-wrap is intact and package is in good condition.
  • Opened unlicensed software is not returnable. Defective software can be exchanged but not refunded.

Non-returnable Items

  • Products purchased via payroll deduction (unless defective; see terms and conditions)
  • Custom-configured or Special Order items
  • Discontinued products, clearance items, products flagged as While Supplies Last, and demos
  • Most software
  • Opened printer cartridges
  • Opened headphones and earbuds
  • Warranties (returns must be negotiated directly with manufacturer)
  • Products with post-sale damage (including packaging) or missing parts
  • Gift cards (If you received a gift card associated with a vendor promotion and return the item—computer, iPad or other—the value of the gift card will be deducted from your return.)

Price Changes

Vendor Price Drops

Tech Shop does not receive advance notice of vendor product or price changes. Whenever possible, we will offer a refund (or other form of credit); however, most products are not eligible for vendor price protection, and we are unable to fund refunds without vendor support.

We work hard to keep our products as affordable as possible, and we regret those instances when we cannot refund a price drop retroactively.

Pricing Errors

Occasionally, product pricing is displayed incorrectly in our online catalog. In these cases, Tech Shop reserves the right to adjust pricing on existing orders if errors are caught before the order has been paid.

Customers will always be notified of any price changes and given the opportunity to cancel or change their order based on correct pricing information.
