If the original payment method is disputed for products not returned after purchase, Tech Shop reserves the right to pursue alternative methods of payment, including student account billing or payroll deduction where applicable or the university collections process.
While not a loan program, our payroll deduction and student account billing programs may help finance a computer purchase for eligible customers. Charging purchases to student account billing can have an impact on pending financial aid or grants; please contact Student Financial Services with questions or for information about payment plans.
Students needing assistance with loans or funding for a computer purchase are encouraged to discuss their options with a financial aid advisor.

Same or next day delivery is available to any U-M building in Ann Arbor. Please complete all the information requested during the order process, including any special instructions that will assist our drivers in locating and accessing the delivery location. You will receive an email from Tech Shop when your order is queued for delivery.
We will contact you via email to reschedule delivery if the items you ordered are not in stock or if we are unable to make the delivery for any reason.
For faculty and staff: We will make every effort to deliver items directly to the room requested; however, this is occasionally not possible. In that case, items will be delivered to the front desk, reception area, or mail room of the specified building.
For students: At the request of Michigan Housing, we can only offer residence hall delivery service during the fall and winter terms, beginning two weeks after classes start until two weeks before the end of the term (or last scheduled day of finals). Once your package is delivered to your residence hall’s community center, Michigan Housing mail and package delivery requires additional time for internal processing; please wait to receive notification from your mail room that your delivery is ready for pickup. If you have questions about delivery service to your residence hall, please contact us before placing your order.
Products purchased from Tech Shop are for personal use only. Software may not be resold. Computing devices may not be sold within two years from the date of purchase.
Some vendors may limit the number of computing devices an individual may purchase in one academic year (July 1 to June 30). Please let us know if you have questions about any limits that may apply to your purchase.
Tech Shop sales are sometimes limited to specific groups by our vendors. Rules vary by product and vendor. Please contact us if you have any questions about buying from Tech Shop.
Computing devices are the most commonly limited items. In general, these are available to:
Eligible buyers of restricted products must show valid U-M ID (like an Mcard) to make a purchase.
As an authorized academic reseller, we offer education pricing on several Mac and Windows software titles.
Due to the educational discount, software vendors have strict guidelines about who can buy, how many of the same software packages you can purchase, how many times the software can be installed and how the software can be used.
Please select products carefully because software is not returnable. We can help you determine if your computer will handle the system requirements of the software you're buying. The more you know about your computer's operating system, memory and tech specs the better.
U-M Microsoft Office 365 is available to current University of Michigan faculty, staff, students, and emeritus with regular (not temporary) uniqnames. Alumni and retirees are not included in our license with Microsoft.
